Thanksgiving and Advent

We’re going to Grandma’s house for Thanksgiving — my mother’s house, 7 minutes away. I’m bringing apple pies, stuffing balls, and the rolls.  I shared the recipe on my food blog.

I have some ideas for Advent I hope to post soon. I’m really excited about the one for the Advent Wreath. It’s a simplified version of the Jesse Tree, to keep the focus on the main “characters” of Advent. If you use tapers for your wreath, the project will include wooden napkin rings purchased from the craft store. I am making a poster with an Advent wreath also, using black foam board.

So supplies needed:

felt, paper, or foam in Advent wreath colors, purple, pink, green. Also various colors like yellow, white, blue, red, brown

black foam or poster board or felt

4 unfinished wood napkin rings (70 cents each)

paint for the rings, glitter (purple?), paint markers

Paper for printer, perhaps in colors pink and purple

This is really a simple project. If your Advent wreath is made of votive candles, I’ll provide alternative suggestions for decorating the candleholder.

Stay tuned….
