The Best Part…

wedding photoI mentioned that we were celebrating our 13 year anniversary yesterday. We have gone through much. I know it’s said again and again, but it’s so true. All the hardships made our love grow deeper and stronger. I am so grateful to God for my wonderful husband.

I’ve been hearing such terrible news this week of friends and neighbors with broken marriages. It really helps me to gain more resolve to pray for strength in our marriage. Without grace, we could be tested in the same ways!

Yesterday, we visited the same shop I purchased my wedding gown. It’s a vintage dress, probably late 30s early 40s in gorgeous satin silk, for less than $100. It’s exactly what I wanted — simple and elegant, with the design and fabric making the statement rather than frills and such. So the antique shop is still there in Leesburg, and I chatted a while with the ladies about my dress. After trying on so many dresses in a bridal shop, it was actually a bit unnerving to try on 2 dresses and make a decision in 20 minutes that *this* was my dress!

Wonderful memories! My hubby was so sweet to let us go walk down memory lane!

  1. Happy anniversary! You have the most beautiful smile. :) That dress looks remarkably similar to the first dress I bought…dh flipped because it wasn’t “white” (family issues…) so I bought another, very different dress. You look beautiful in it!

  2. Such a beautiful dress! it looks perfect on you and such a lovely story how you found it! you make a striking couple! Congratulations, especially as you’ve been through a lot!

    • Yes, I live in Manassas. One of the fun things we did while dating was antiquing. I used teapots and cups and saucers for the tables at the reception, so we were always on the lookout for bargains in that area. And now it’s a fun time for the family.

  3. Jenn, what a lovely dress! And a beautiful bride as well as a handsome groom! Keep striving in your marriage…it will do you good. Joe and I just celebrated 25 years! I cannot imagine any life other than being married to him.

  4. So you said “yes” to the dress….anyway Congratulations on thirteen years of married life. I am so lucky to have been there for the first day. Hope you and your “True Love” keep dancing :)

Thanks for the comment! I love hearing from you!
